Khajuraho Group of Monuments: Seven Wonders

Khajuraho Group of Monuments

In a small town Khajuraho of Madhya Pradesh, India, we have a very beautiful and largest group of Medieval Hindu and Jain Temples. These temples were built during 950 AD to 1150 AD by generations of Chandela Monarchs. It had a total of 85 temples most of which have ruined and only 25 are left in satisfactory state till date. Khajuraho was the cultural capital of the Chandela dynasty when these temples were built. Though the place was of great cultural importance, Chandela Kings never lived in Khajuraho which is the reason, there are no forts.
UNESCO declared Khajuraho group of temples as World Heritage Site and it is also included in the Seven Wonders of India.
